The BMW 2002 turbo, introduced in 1973, was a groundbreaking model with a 170 hp engine and a top speed of 211 km/h. It was notable for being the first production car equipped with an exhaust turbocharger, setting the stage for modern turbocharged engines. The vehicle featured distinct design elements like wider wings, a tear-off edge rear spoiler, and an aggressive turbo kick, which made it a favourite among enthusiasts. Only 1,672 units were produced, making it a rare and highly sought-after collector’s item today. At the time of publishing this post in 2024, the market value for a BMW 2002 Turbo is £100,000 – £150,000.
